Introduction Page 2

The maltreatment of children is one of the most important problems confronting society today, not only because of the harm it does to children, but also because of the long-term effects on those children in their adult relationships. Anyone who has worked with abused children knows the struggles and frustrations of trying to help kids emerge from their experiences of trauma to become healthy survivors.

In this module you will learn:

  • What to do if you acquire knowledge or reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect
  • How to talk to children about suspected abuse
  • Special issues related to child abuse reporting for clergy members
